This is the best book i have ever bought on guitars. The details and the work that was put into this master piece is exceptional.The author is a jenius and an artist. I highly recommend it to any one who plays guitar, collects guitars or has ever picked up a guitar or seen Jimi Hendrix play one or just listened to him. You will never find a better buy for your money. The presentation is extraordinary. When the UPS driver delivered it, he warned me it was heavy. You bet it is and its well worth it. Im a huge Buddy Holly fan. I own most of his estate catalogs, and have been dieing to see close up pictures of his guitar and i finally was able to.
I was very excited to see these pictures of other older Fender guitars. The Fender 1954 picture that is in the small book is wonderful. Finally the case is incredible, excellent detail and feels like an actual guitar case.
I would like to thank every one involved in this project for there dedication to this excellent piece of history and art work.

This is a great book set that originally sold for $1,500. It's a terrific bargain at under $400, and has beautiful photos of great guitars throughout. Text is by Walter Carter, one of the top guitar experts anywhere.

Totally over the top, in a good way. In its case, it's over 40lbs!! It's exceedingly well-made, and the photos are gorgeous.
It's an extravagance perhaps, even at $100, but it's very, very cool.
As others have said, this "book" is way, way over the top - but in a good way.
The price for these babies certainly jumps around. When I saw these on for less than $15 new (!!!) I ordered three of them. Not only that, but the UK seller air freighted the 40 pound boxes to my residence in the US for the fixed $3.99 book rate for each. So less than $20 total for each one - which is less than $1 a pound for the 20+ pound main book.
Note that the signed photo is in the packing material, not in the leather case.
I guess that these must have really sold pretty poorly when first printed and released in 2011. For instance, I received copy #27 of the 1,500 numbered Solidbody edition copies produced (if they actually printed that many).
This book is the 'Mother of All Guitar Books'….the print quality is superb, the photography second to none. You get the huge book in a 'guitar case'(numbered copy), a smaller book that details the story of each guitar pictured, a signed certificated from Walter Carter(who was a historian at Gibson), and a signed/numbered print of a PRS double necked guitar signed by John Peden.
Shop for prices on this book to get the best buy, for they are all over the map….it's a huge book---pretentious and a labored protocol just to get it out of the box to see(you could alway used it for a weight-lifting exercise at almost 40lbs.)…but in all respects, worth it!
I was initially interested in this "book" because my friend Lonnie Mack's guitar is featured and I was delighted to buy it at a great price. I was not really aware of the uniquely creative packaging (guitar case), additional book or large Telecaster print. I was quite surprised by the 43 pound box that arrived at my house and the surprises continued with the case, etc. I can't decide whether the original price of $1500 was justified, however, if they don't come out with "cheaper" editions---I think that in time, the $1500 price tag could actually hold up.
As to the actual book/s and photos, it will be a while until I get around to viewing and reading carefully, but my first impression is that the photos are truly wonderful.
