There’s an old adage that if you’re going to fight city hall you better make sure you do all your homework first and can protect yourself. They’re going to fight back -- and sometimes in ways that you never expect.
It can even be worse when you are a special investigator tasked with looking into criminal acts committed by public officials in a big city, especially when it later turns out that these public officials are involved with actual organized mob criminals.
And that’s exactly the situation Special Investigator Danny Walker found himself in. What started out as a couple straightforward investigations of obviously crooked officials at city hall quickly morphed into a dangerous shooting war with mob thugs and even foreign assassins.
In this third novel in the Walker Chronicles series, Danny Walker cannot even appear in public without being beaten and shot at by paid thugs. The problem is, no one knows exactly who is hiring these thugs and assassins. It’s obvious that they are very persistent. But no one really knows why.

Things get rather interesting, and dangerous for Walker in this novel when Walker gets ready to send information to the grand jury concerning two powerful city officials. Again, this fast paced novel is a page-turner that is hard to put down.I find the Walker Chronicles to be a cop story with a major twist or two. Walker is not really a police officer so things happen to him that would not happen to a police detective.
For some reason unknown to Walker, there seems to be a line of thugs and assassins lining up to get him. The storyline is not really a cop novel, it approaches being a real thriller type story. Could these things happen in real life? Unfortunately, yes, they probably could in some cities.
It's interesting that many of the same characters pop up in all of the Walker Chronicles novels. To me, it makes reading more comfortable because, after reading the first two novels in the series, I feel like I already know the major players. Some of them are like old friends.

Walker Chronicles III edition by Doug Fiedor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Enjoyed reading the first book by this author, easy, fast reading. Likes that there will be more adventures to follow. I enjoy reading a series of books on the same character. After a few books its like you know the person on a personal
basis. Waiting for the next book in this series.
The Walker Chronicle Series is a fast moving Chronicle of things that could going on in our cities right now.
Walker and his Crew manage to get themselves into interesting twists and turns and find all kinds of mischief and problems along the way.
I really like the characters and have enjoyed watching them grow and evolve into a top notch unit.
Looking forward to a IV in the series.
I've read most of the best sellers in this genre and am always looking for new authors. This is a fast and easy novel to read. It moves right along and keeps your interest. In some ways it's a twist on the normal cop stories and that's one point that makes it interesting. My impression is that this is the first of a series because there seems to be some unfinished business in the storyline. I hope that is true.
Certainly, I recommend this novel and am impatiently waiting for the next in the series.
Part three of the series is a continuation of great reading. There is enough background explained that this book stands up very well as a single, but is even more interesting as part of the series. I strongly recommend that everyone buy all the books of this series if they want a really enjoyable reading experience with well rounded characters.
Great series and very realistic. A MUST read for anyone interested in how our goverment should (and sometimes does) operate today. Very entertaining and a quick read, but full of information. I could not stop once I started, and read start to finish in one sitting. Now that I have finished all four of the books in this series, I am anxiously waiting for the new book to be released. Doug Fiedor is definately someone to put on your wish list so you can get all his new books as soon as they are available.
It's really revealing, how corruption affects cities, and how easily politicians can be corrupted, or coerced into doing what the criminal element wants. It's also devastating how deeply the conspiracies go into the whole fabric of large governments. The bigger governments get, the more opportunities there are for corruption.
This novel is a page turner! I got hooked early on and continued reading until the wee hours of the morning. Truthfully, I'm not much of a fiction reader but I feel good about recommending this book.
There are a few humorous lines in the story because the protagonist is a bit unusual. But having been a school teacher in a large city for many years I also see some very true problems mentioned that almost make me cringe now that I'm retired and far away from all that.
Doug Fiedor was a serious and well read political editorialist for many years. With this novel he broke out of that framework and wrote a story that is interesting but also quick and easy reading. I'll be watching for more like this from him in the future.
